Rebecca,
Da Fiore is one of the most famous, and wonderful restaurants in Venice. Our meal there was quite unforgettable, particularly the porcini and shrimp risotto.

We visited the Accademia in Venice and used the tour from Rick Steve's book, "Mona Winks". This was really fun. I highly recommend the book, or at least try to photocopy the Venice chapter.

On other thought... My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Greece, a similarly long flight. After the wedding, and the stress of travelling we were even more jet-lagged than usual on our first day. In fact, we were practically catatonic. Make sure you schedule some serious down time early in your trip. Even if you are used to jet lag and overseas travelling, it will be worse than you expect.

Rebecca,

My favorite restaurants in Venice are: Al Covo, Fiaschetteria Toscana and Do Forni. I've never been to Da Fiore but hear it's very good...
