We recently stayed in Bologna with the intent of taking the train in to Venice for a day trip to save $$$. We packed a picnic in Bologna and then got a crappy expensive meal in Venice before heading back to Bologna. We stayed on a couple more days in Bologna and then took the train to Florence. We then went to Cinque Terre and trained to Pisa for a flight to Paris.
Great trip but too much moving around as we were only at each place for 3 nights. Paris was 4 nights - much better but 5 nights in each would have been best.

Glad to hear that people have done it with (or under) this budget. A relief. We would love to expore and experience the cities. Food will not be our priority this trip.

Thank you for listing out the B&B and hotels. It's great to get advice first hand.

Need to finalize the stay I'm the next 2 days times running out !!

That's again.
