Honeymoon: barcelona/french riviera or barcelona / greece
Hi there! My fiance and I are having the hardest time deciding on where to plan our honeymoon. We will be vacationing from Sept 27-Oct 11 (end dates are still up in the air). I am not one to lay on a beach all day...I like to explore. My fiance is more into relaxing and luxury but still adventurous. We both really want to go to Barcelona. I feel like the energy will be wonderful! We LOVE Paella, wine, Gaudi, and an exciting nightlife. Maybe spend 3 or 4 days there at the start? Possibly taking a day trip to Costa Brava...?
Then we'd like to either fly into Nice and find a homebase in Antibes maybe and explore the French Riviera by renting a car.
OR
fly into Athens from BCN and do a day or two in Athens before relenquishing to the greek isles..santorini, oia, etc. What do you think? I'm sure they are ALL fantastic.
Now the catch is, I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to stop in Rome to go to Formia to visit my family...most of them won't be able to come to the wedding and my grandmother will be 91!!! She is the best! Do you think trying to stop in Rome either after Barcelona or after Greece...is pushing it?

Hi Adj,
>Do you think trying to stop in Rome either after Barcelona or after Greece...is pushing it?
Of course, and you know it.
If your new wife will be amenable, I suggest going to Rome after Barcelona.
Enjoy your visit

My family in italy wants to throw us a mini party, so that's why we want to include it somewhere. I think right now we are flying into Barcelona and renting a car after a few days to drive up the costa brava and make our way into french riviera and northern italy. I looked up directions and the total trip amount is 12 hours. We will have two weeks and be able to take our time and stop wherever we want. Since it's not high season...it seems we can find cute romantic hotels along the way...what do you think We will make Rome our last stop...it's where we got engaged and seems like it will be really nice to revisit the spot!
