Yes, take into account jet lag. That will slow you down for a couple days at the beginning of your trip, perhaps intensified by post-wedding exhaustion. So it's better to start in a slower paced stop.

Are you sure you can't use your miles to get an open-jaw (multi-city) flight? I've done it frequently with British Air.

Naples airport is not very convenient for either Rome or the Amalfi coast.

carlyman,

There are sunsets in Rome! You can relax there too, and I hope you will.

Mimar,

I'm not being argumentative, but genuinely curious: Why do you say Naples airport is not convenient to the Amalfi coast? When I stayed in Ravello and Atrani, I flew out of the Naples airport with no problem. I was glad I didn't have to go to Rome.

hi carlyman,

I'm with the "fly into Rome, get private car transfer to the amalfi for the first part of the honeymoon, then go back to Rome for the second" school ... where you [or your bride] are likely to do the most shopping so that will avoid having to trapse it round with you.

congrats, and have a great time.

<is 9 days just too much? Is there enough in Rome to keep us busy?>
LOL, sorry. In Rome, "enough"?? In Rome, there's always TOO MUCH of anything. In Rome, there's enough to keep you busy for a minimum of two years of most intense sightseeing, day by day, without even one day free.

Yes I think that 9 days is rather a lot, not saying that you'd run out of things to do, but a change of scene can be a good thing. Lake Como, is stunningly beautiful.....and very romantic, and probably an easier place to relax....as well as the busier places, like Como and Bellagio, there are some quiet wee corners too..have a look

Steps, how did you get to the Naples airport from Ravello and Atrani respectively?

Obviously Naples airport is closer to the AC than Fiumicino. But the transportation options are much greater from Fiumicino and Rome. As are the flights in and out of Rome vs. the flights in and out of Naples.

And, alihutch, if we're going to mention places far from the OP's destinations, I'd insist that flying into Venice is a must for honeymooners to Italy.

I would hate a honeymoon in Venice! Hard for to imagine a place I'd dislike more for a honeymoon.

So I guess there are no "musts" for people who are doing something so personal and intimate as getting married. People are all different.

Mimar, like I said, I took a private car transfer from the Amalfi coast to Naples airport. I am really confused by what you are trying to say here -- and really, I'm being sincere. The honeymooners only need one flight, and the OP has said both airports are options for him (he just can't do open jaw). I can't see the point of routing somebody through Rome if their first destination is Positano. They are going to have a much easier and cheaper journey getting from Napoli airport to Positano than from FCO to Positano, no matter how you slice it.

For their last night, they will need to return to the Napoli area in order to take a taxi to the airport to fly home. Here's where I would stay for a honeymoon:

Hi; From Ravello to the Naples airport we took a taxi with four people. Left our hotel at 4am for a one hour ride to the Naples airport. It was about 120 Euro. Richard P.S. Driver was lovely. He gave us a very small bottle of limoncello.

Carlyman,
Personally I would stay in Rome the whole time and decide while you're there if you feel like doing any day trips.
Although it wouldn't suit everyone's taste, when my husband and I went for 9 nights we ended up taking two day trips by train..........one to Florence and one to Venice.
Granted, our day in Venice was short...........late morning to early evening but we both felt it was worthwhile.
