Holiday Inn Florence
Hoping to attend a wedding in Florence weekend of May 5, 2007. Room rates all seem to be $200 and up. My son has offered to get us a room at the Holiday Inn Florence using his Reward Points (i.e. free to me). HI says it is 10 minutes from center of Florence. Are buses available? Trains? Taxi? Prices? I may have a car but understand that I won't be able to drive into the city. Comments and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Jerry

Florence is a little town, very pleasant to visit walking, a car is not necessary to discover the city. For accomodations at good price try the site www.nyceflorence.com they have well down maps and a lot of pictures

I agree--with a little research you should be able to find soemthing closer to the center. Certainly there are buses and taxis, but you will enjoy your visit more if you can walk to the sights. How many people? What is a manageable room cost?

Try the B&B Relais Grand Tour
http://www.florencegrandtour.com/
It is very close to the Accademia, and within walking distance to everything. I stayed in the Diva Suite-- it was grand! I highly recommend the place.
