Hiking and Walking in Puglia
We will be in Puglia February and early March and are avid hikers and walkers. We have not yet completely decided which towns and areas we will be staying in so we are open to all suggestions. Anything in the 5-15 mile range is of interest. Keep in mind that we will be traveling with public transportation where possible although we will rent a car when advisable/necessary. We particularly like being to do one way hikes, where we can finish and return from a different area than where we began.
Thanks!

Hi Travelon,
Locorotondo has a walk that goes into the valle d'Itria i.e. trulli land. The cafe called 'Docks 101' is right across the way from where the trail-head commences. as it winds downwards. One could consult with the friendly staff there.
I am done. The end.

I wish I had something constructive to add, but I didn't hike in the area.
FWIW, I'll note that you don't need to start a new thread if no one responds -- just add something, ANY thing, to your existing thread and the thread will move to the top of the list. For that reason, some people type "topping."
And please, always wait at least 24 hours -- some of us still work and can only check in once a day.

The Itria valley is full of paths, but it can be hard to find them--one outside Noci was nice, you park at a church and walk through farms, trulli houses, cherry trees (we parked and backtracked). There is an aqueduct path that is probably the easiest to locate.
I really liked walking along the rocky coast in the vicinity of the Ciolo bridge (zoom in on google maps--it is near Gagliano del Capo). You terminate at a cave with prehistoric paintings. Walking into Salento caves - Tours in bici ed escursioni a piedi nel Salento

Also use Google maps to locate all of the parks in Puglia:
Parco naturale regionale Porto Selvaggio e Palude del Capitano north of Gallipoli (an absolute highlight--stunning coastal scenery and lookout towers)
Parco Naturale Regionale Dune Costiere da Torre Canne a Torre San Leonardo (near Monopoli, great little park with huge dunes)
You can do a guided walk at Riserva Statale San Cataldo, near Lecce--we arrived after the office was closing so just took a peek, but if you can get on the tour this in a unique area
Parco Naturale Regionale Bosco e Paludi di Rauccio (near Brindisi, worth a look if you are in the vicinity, but not in my top 5)
We also walked in Parco Naturale Regionale Terra delle Gravine near Martina France but did not really scratch the surface there.
