Hertz, Lisbon, Fraud Warning
We booked a vacation package that included a Hertz rental car through our travel agent with Goway. Everything was prepaid, including the CDW. We had a confirmation email from Hertz with a voucher number on it. The Hertz booking office said that was all we needed.
However, the customer service agent at the rental desk would not accept the form as proof of payment. He said to have our travel agent send a copy of the voucher and bring it in upon return for payment. Our travel agent spoke to Goway and the Hertz booking agent who again said the form we had was sufficient. We were advised to take it back with us when returning the car and that we should not be charged anything for the rental.
Upon return, the representative refused to accept the document and said he could not call the booking office to clear up the matter since it was the weekend. He advised us to check in the car and leave the information, so they could resolve the issue on Monday (the day we few home).
Upon return home, we found we had been charged by Hertz for the rental again. We have been pursuing a refund from Hertz for two months now through our travel agent and our bank and Hertz corporate complaint center, but, instead of returning our money, Hertz has charged our account a third time! (We actually had to cancel our bank card.)
Goway also has yet to do anything to compensate us and was not available and/or helpful when we contacted them from the Hertz rental desk.
Avoid using both of these companies!!
