Journées du Patrimoine 2018 dans le département de la Dordogne (programme national détaillé)
As the website says "programme in preparation" -- but I'm sure that many things from 2017 will be repeated.

We were there during Patrimoine in 2016 and there was a lot of stuff going on. Most of it, surprisingly, was not in Sarlat. Get a program at the Sarlat tourist office & study it carefully.

We've been spending this weekend in the same quiet part of France since 2007 and we still find new things to visit each J du P. The most interesting ones don't appear in the national website. We buy the local newspaper that week and it lists them all, including the ones that are only locally known. There are always more sites listed than we can visit. We also pick up fliers at all the tourist offices we can get to in advance. If there's something you really want to see, verify the day before that it really will be open at the stated times.
This is our favorite weekend in France, beating out the June garden weekend by a hair.

I think The Dordogne was our favorite area of France. Staying in Sarlat during Herritage weekend was outstanding. On Sat. night the streets of Sarlat were lit with 10,000 candles, very memorable.
so much to see in the whole area, 10 days was not enough. The other thing that stood out of the Herritage celebrations was the manor house at Eyrignac gardens. It has been lived in for 500 years and that Sunday was the only day of the year it was open to guests,
i’ll be Waiting for your TR to relive our experiences
