Help with Zurich/Luzern transportation

Hello. I was hoping to get an opinion from forum members. I am planning a solo trip this fall to Switzerland, flying into and out of Zurich. I have no burning desire to see Zurich on this trip, but I usually overnight in my departing city. I know the train from Luzern (my last destination) is only an hour from the Zurich airport. Is it practical to leave from Luzern to get to the airport on the morning of my 1145am flight? I would really like to eliminate changing hotels if at all possible. Have any of you done this?

Yes, it's quite doable. I've done it myself.

Ditto!
You can check train times on the SBB website, but that is perfectly reasonable.

63min direct train from Luzern to Zurich Flughafen.
Departs every hour at XX:09.

6:09am, 7:09am, 8:09am.

Same day price is about CHF 15 or less.
