The Swiss post buses are very comfortable and fun to ride. (Love that horn.) When we were in Locarno, we met a couple whose whole vacation was taking a post bus each day to a different destination.

Me too loves the Swiss Postal Buses - so much that I started a thread on them - a Swiss neckervd made valuable contributions to it and corrected me on some faux pas (what is the plural of faux pas - faux pass or faux pases -???)

You can also combine both, train and car rental. For instance if you can show them a public transport subscribtion http://www.greencars-rental.ch seems to be one of the cheapest option with a 20% discount on normal rates.

Interesting item from Warbonnet - Green Cars and a transportation ticket - I wonder if a Swiss Pass qualifies as I expect it should?

I'll confirm that, yes just go to the ticket office and by the passes and your tickets at the same time. Have a lovely time>

folks buying Swiss Passes with the recent jum in the value of the Swiss franc by about 20% should now check prices in U S $s if American or Canadian $ if Canuck as these prices now are significantly lower than ones bought in Switzerland as these pass prices have not yet gone up like the france did - at least check to see if there is a significant savings over buying there - if not buy there - but you may save a bundle now a recent check of pricing shows.
