Help with Tours on Amalfi Coast

My husband and I as well as our two best friends will be renting a villa on the Amalfi Coast not far from Amalfi. We want to take a private tour of Pompeii and Herculeum and another private tour down the Amalfi Coast. My husband usually drives us everywhere and I’m trying to give him a break this trip. Do you have recommendations on companies to use. We are history buffs if that helps. Also my husband has trouble walking long distances so we can’t do a long walking tour. Thanks for any and all help.

Can't help with the tour, as I visited the area on my own. But if he has trouble with walking long distances Pompeii may be difficult. I was walking fine at the time but Pompeii totally exhausted me. Herculaneum is more compact and has shade. There are buses and ferries along the AC although depending on when you are going they may well be crowded. But driving could be worse.

If you have the funds, hire a car for the day to drive you along the coast.

Keep in mind that the heat at Pompeii can be blastingly hot, so time your visit for early in the day and bring hats, water, and an umbrella for shade. Agree about Herculaneum.

Like thursdaysd, I visited these places on my own, but agree with her and with ekscrunchy that Pompeii could be a challenge if long walks are an issue -- although I'm sure a good guide would facilitate a short trip to Pompeii, which provides a nice contrast to Herculaneum, IMO.

Good luck!

We chartered a small boat for a day and explored the coast from Positano to Amalfi. I think the coast is best seen from the water. Lots of spots to swim and restaurants only accessible by boat. We used Lucibella https://www.lucibello.it/

Boat is a nice idea. Except for Amalfi cathedral and a few other places, including Ravello itself, I would not think there will be much fun in walking around the towns in the hot sun along with busloads of other tourists. Take a boat tour and return to the towns to eat dinner at night, again if the budget allows. Where is the villa? The best eating is in what might be my favorite town, Cetara.

Francewithfive...can you recommend a restaurant along the water? I see several, each with mixed reviews. Da Adolfo & Tonnarella are two that keep popping up.
