Well if Rex is right and he usually is I guess its goodbye to Fodors Forum and all my brilliant replies to posts. (kidding).
What happens is the top post on each page is always the one that appears no matter how far down the post that I highlight---if I highlighted the post under mine--VIENNA?--my post would appear so long as its on the top of the page.
Oh well its been nice knowing you all!

AH

WebTV doesn't support Java. I assume that's why these users are having problems, but unfortunately I don't have time to look into the details at the moment... I'll try to find more info for you, later in the weekend.

Cheers,

- Quicksilver -

1st off I'd like to Thank Paulo for this info that he e-mailed me when Fodors 1st tried this new format a few months ago.
The new format uses Java Script which Webtv can't access, so when we 1st enter this site we only get the 1st post. We can post but we can't retrieve any messages past No.1.
Austin there is only one way we can get the other messages and that is to go directly to that topic's URL. Now we have to be quick
, because if anyone posts while we doing this it changes that topic's number (1,2,3,etc) and we we get a different topic.
If you have any questions or problems with the following info please feel free to e-mail me.
1st: take this URL and and e-mail it to yourself www.fodors.com/forums/threadselect.cfm?fid=2&tid=0&start=1&r ows=50&sort=date
2nd: now go to that e-mail and "cut & copy" it.
3rd: Find the topic on the forum you want to bring up and look at it's number (1,2,3,etc). You might want to reload the page to be sure no ones posted recently.
4th: Hit the "go to" on your keyboard and "paste" the URL in.
5th: In the URL you must delete the 1 in this section =1&rows and add that topics number (say 24) so the URL is now http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...&sort=date and hit the "Return" key to send it and hope no one posted in that time
. HTH Regards, Walter

Austin: I'm the one Rex referred to as having a problem with my WebTV browser and the new format. Could be a frames problem rather than Java. I'd be interested to hear from other WebTV users. There has to be more than just the two of us. Where's Walter?

Tedious though it may be, there could be a self-appointed band of vigilantes who post the "tid" for each new thread as the "first reply" on any new thread.

This thread, for example is

http://www.fodors.com/forums/topframe.cfm?fid=2&tid=1286331&

I will e-mail this to Austin, and this might enable him to get back to this post anytime he wants.

In fact, thanks to the new functionality, I will e-mail him this whole new thread - - anyone who learns anything about interaction of the new format with webtv can do the same.
Rex: I just think this new format might drive me to getting a computer
. It's tough it took me 3 tries to get to this topic because someone posted in that window I needed to get here. Hopefully there is an easier way for Webtv to access this site. I don't think we can save a particular topic except by either clicking on the URL but only if it is posted by someone, our "info" button doesn't display long URL's and even then we still have to type them in
. I also e-mail Austin after I posted, I forgot he couldn't access the topic, what was I thinking
. Regards, Walter
