Help with itinerary (Austria/Bavaria)
I am planning a two-week car trip to Austria
and southern Germany (Fussen, Munich, and Rothenberg), starting in Vienna and ending in Munich.
Based on my current itinerary, I am 1-2 days short. So I need to cancel 1 or 2 one-day trips.
Could anyone provide feedback on which one of the following places I ought to skip?
An order-ranking would be nice. Thank you very much,
Innsbruck
Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse
Hallstatt (Salzkammergut)
Rothenberg
Wachau Valley

I agree Innsbruck is the destination you could skip on this list.
It is hard to rank the others since they are so different. You have vineyards and scenic Danube valley or spectacular Alpine scenery or more Alpine scenery/lake and prehistory museum or touristy but spectacular medieval town.
All well worth a detour if not a journey in Michelin terms.

As of now, the plan is as follows (days in parentheses, total 13 nights)
Vienna (3), Wachau Valley (1), Salzburg (2), Hallsatt and Grossglockner (3), Fussen (1), Rothenberg (1), Munich (2)
Is the plan feasible? Any suggested reallocations? Thanks

Just returned from that area. I think you can book more time in Salzburg and then do Hallstadt as day trips. That would eliminate the hassle of changing hotels which can waste time. We spent 4 nights in Salzburg and this was not our first trip. Had a great time all four nights and made it to Berchtesgaden one day.
TIP: Visit the Wilder Mann restaurant while in Salzburg. Robert the owner is 5th generation and a great guy! This is not an expensive place.

I'd combine "Salzburg (2), Hallsatt and Grossglockner (3)" into one, staying near Berchtesgaden or Salzburg (they're close to each other) and doing daytrips. I think the Grossglockner is a bit out of your way, though it is feasible as a long day trip from there.

We spent 2 nights in Salzburg & 3 nights in Hallstatt and that was just about the right amount of time. Hallstatt is such a nice break from rushing around to all the sites. We ended our trip with 3 nights in Vienna which was enough to get a taste and know that I cannot wait to go back.
You'll be able to hit all the big sites with that amount of time. I agree with the others about dropping Innsbruck. Rothenberg is a great town. I think we were there for 2 nights and felt it was just right.

Hi S,
>Vienna (3), Wachau Valley (1), Salzburg (2), Hallsatt and Grossglockner (3), Fussen (1), Rothenberg (1), Munich (2)..
Rothenburg is an outlier. I would skip it (or Fuessen) and add a night to Salzburg or Munich.
