I've inquired about an apt in Seville called Arenal.

It does not have air conditioning and we will be there May 23-26. Do you think that will be a problem? Is this a good area to be in Seville.

We are traveling with my grown up children and another couple and this was the only place that slept 6 that we could find. Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

Yes the area is good but you definitely need air conditioning. We were there in late May. It was 43C both days. Stinkin' hot and we're from Australia !

Yikes. defintetly will seek out another apt. How about the macarana neighborhood. I'm worried that another poster said Sevilla can be noisy.

we're from the Atlanta US and looked at the weather history and they said it was only highs of low 80s. I hope you're experience was unusual. We were planning 4 days in Sevilla with one day to go to Cordoba but we're not one for heat in a city....mmm

If you're from Atlanta you can handle it.
In my experience (also May) it was hot but not unbearable, but I would want a/c.
If I recall correctly, some of their offerings were in the same building, so maybe you could book 2-3 apts.

Now I'm trying to decide between an apt in Arenal neighborhood or Marcarena. The Marcarena is a nicer apt but it looks like it might be too far.

We like to walk and we prefer a quiet location.

I rented Puerta Carmona. It was luxurious and immaculate and walking distance. With a/c and shutters you could completely shut the world out.
There are 3 apts in this building, but I don't know your budget.

We were in Seville last week and it was very hot in our room. We were supposed to have AC but it didn't work. After repeated tries the hotel offered to switch us but didn't have an adjacent room for our teenaged kids so we "sweat" it out...

The room had a southern exposure with sun all day so by siesta time it was pretty hot even if the temp outside was high 70s low 80s.

Yes, we had to keep the window open and it was very, very noisy with continuous traffic under our window into the wee hours and then starting up with morning rush hour again.

In fact, seems everyplace we stayed in Spain noise was an issue as this is a country where people are out partying into the early morning. Our hotel in Granada also had broken AC and same problem there with street noise...

Bring earplugs and skimpy jammies

I really don't think their AC is really "broken". Maybe it is not individual, I mean, they have to make it work for all the building at the time...and in that case, no one puts the AC to work until May here in Spain And then , even though May would be cold...you will have to freeze because they cannot switch it off !

The Barrio Santa Cruz is lovely and central. I was there during the day and it seemed relatively quiet. Night time could be different though - the Spanish love to party God bless them

Where did you stay in Seville and Granada? We'll be there in May and I am trying hard to find accommodations without too much noise.

Macarana area is a good area. There are plenty of small restaurants which are not too expensive. You can walk to the downtown part of Sevilla too.

I always found street parking, since I was driving in Sevilla. My office was just across the river so it was convienent.

We have stayed in Sevilla5 apartments on several occasions, including last July. Only the living room was airconditioned - and although we would have preferred aircon in the bedrooms, we were fine. We are Australian so maybe used to it.

May - I doubt airconditioning would be necessary. In my view it is a myth that southern spain is constantly hot. We had nothing higher than 37 last July in Seville but July and August are the hottest months.

The area is great and the people who run the apartments excellent to deal with.
