HELP! Will many places in the LOIRE VALLEY be closed on a MONDAY??
Hi Everybody,
I know the Chenonceau chateau will be open on Mondays, but does anyone know if most stores, museums, wine estates, restaurants, etc. will be closed on a Monday?
(We may also go to Amboise or Blois, and will change our day if everything is closed.)
THANKS!

You can assume that many businesses and attractions that stay open over the weekend take Monday off, but this isn't an invariable rule. Most, family-run restaurants are closed on Mondays, but you normally find something open like brasseries. Most chateaux however are open daily. Many stores are closed on Monday AM, but most open in the afternoon. Smaller museums may also be closed on Mondays, but major ones like da Vinci's Clos-Lucé in Amboise is open every day.

The only problem we have ever encountered (and we almost always travel in the off-season) is that some of the minor chateaux close from noon to one or two for lunch. Chenenceau, Villandry, Azay-le-Riday, Chambord, Valencay, and Cheverny are open on Monday and are open all day with no closures.
The only time we have encountered Monday closings was in Paris and Versailles. Privately-owned chateau are almost always open on a daily basis and most of the Loire Valley chateaux are privately opened.
Almost every major attraction in the Loire Valley has a website (in English); you can check the opening days and hours through the web site.
