Help! Parking in Malta
Hello, trying to decide about renting a car or taking the bus. Leaning towards a car and figure I can handle the driving (esp. with full insurance 
), but am worried about parking.
I don't mind paying for parking, I just want to be able to find a spot somewhere near my hotel in Sliema and when driving to other parts of the island(s).
Any comments?

Heya, no idea whether you've already made it to malta!
I'm Maltese and don't drive. I think a tourist would cope VERY well with no rented car, taking buses (all major sites have direct buses) and the occasional taxi late at night. However it does get very hot in summer so an air conditioned rented car might be welcome.

Driving in malta is crazy, but it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Its Not much worse then driving in New York (i'm from NYC).
Make sure you rent a car with AC. Taking the bus sucks. Its not air conditioned and Malta is hot.
We didn't have a problem finding parking in the street near our hotel.

It's been 10 years since I was in Malta and stayed in Sliema. Perhaps things have changed but I would never even THINK about driving in Malta (where my husband was hit by a speeding car as he crossed the Strand in a crosswalk) and the thought of trying to find a parking space on streets as wide as a sheet of notebook paper where the cars were routinely parked half on the street and half onto the 18" wide sidewalks gives me palpitations. The busses may well have been very hot, but they were very colorful, idiosyncratically decorated by each driver, went everywhere, were dirt cheap, and part of the experience of visiting Malta.

Kevin: Driving in Malta is crazy but necessary if you wish to see many sights in limited time. The bus schedules are confining and they don't go everywhere we wanted to go. We chickened out driving the first few days as we arrived at night and nighttime driving is very bad as the signage is poor. Definitely drive to Goto as this was an easy trip with beautiful scenery. The bus drivers and locals are extremely helpful. I would suggest asking someone where is a good spot to park before you depart.
