Help needed with Chamonix accommodation from this weekend
Hi all,
We're leaving Italy today for Zermatt and will then go on to Chamonix for hopefully nine days or so of hiking - weather gods dependent of course! We hadn't booked this part of our six week trip because I've had an injury and we weren't sure I'd be hiking. But things are good so off we go.
Our visit coincides with the World Climbing Championships but there is still accommodation available. But we do need to book in a hurry! The trouble I'm having is which area to choose as it seems quite spread out. So I'm helping fellow Fodorites can help!
I'm looking for somewhere close to good coffee and breakfast - and hiking food supplies! - so that we can easily get our supplies each morning before hitting the trail. But I'd also love to experience the hiking village atmosphere in the evenings. We'd like to settle in and get to know the place.
Any suggestions?
Thanks as always,
RT
