Help Needed!!!
Hi there, I am from Singapore. Will need some help urgently for my flight problems.
My problem : I am going for a football match at Liverpool on 26th December 2005. The match starts at 1500hrs. I have a flight back to Singapore on the 27th Dec 2005 at 1115hrs at Paris Airport.
I am looking at booking a flight (Flight 7045) from Liverpool Airport to Paris Airport on the 26th Dec 2005 at 1930hrs OR from Luton Airport on 27th Dec 2005 at 0605hrs to Paris.
1.I would like to know how many hours do i need to check in before the flight at Liverpool.
2. How long do i need to travel from Anfield Stadium to Liverpool airport.
3. Will i be able to make it to the above flight after my football match if i take the flight from Liverpool to Paris.
4. Which of the option above will be better for me so as not to miss my flight out from Paris.
5.Is the Airport at PAris which Easyjet lands the same airport as the one with International flights out of Paris.
6. If the flight out from London Luton Airport is a better choice, what would be the cheapest way of travel from Liverpool to Luton Airport.
Please get back to me as soon as possible.
All help appreciated. Thanks alot.

Hi Bell
You are trabvelling an awful distance for a football game - you must be a fan!!! I think it's only fair that I can offer you some advice - I have only been to Liverpool once, so here goes!!!
have you considered jet-lag for the match?? You will have travelled quite a distance!!
Check which airport in Paris you are flying to - there are two main iarports - Charles de Gaulle and Orly. As far as I know, most international flights land in CDG, but you should check this out and make sure you fly in and out of the same airport.
Flying to Liverpool would be better than Luton - Luton would involve additional train journey(s), Liverpools airport is called 'John Lennon Airport', and is quiet close to the city, not sure of exact distance to Anfield but a taxi ride to Anfield should not cost much or take too long.
Check in on international flights (including domestic European flights) is generally 2 hours (i.e. Liverpool flight).
Also bear in mind the 26th December is a public holiday in the UK.

Hi Bell,
Way to go, mate!!
I'm from Singapore too and have done likewise -- travelling all the way to Anfield, Liverpool for 3 football matches in December 2001.

26th Dec huh?? Hmm, you're either a Liverpool or a Newcastle fan.

I can't help you much here, cos I flew back from Heathrow on the 24th.
But, erm, looking at your plan, isn't it abit dicey to go for the 1930hrs flight out of John Lennon Airport on the 26th?? I know the match is scheduled to start at 1500hrs, but have you factored in things like delay in match commencement due to unforeseen circumstances, (though I know the chances of it happening are relatively slim)??
Have you explored other options of getting to Paris??
I might be wrong here, but as far as I know, Easyjet doesn't go to big airports that serve international flights. You might want to verify the exact airport in Paris which Easyjet flies to and factor in the amount of time needed to get to CDG or Orly for your flight out.
Take into consideration Gavan's point too, about Boxing Day being a public holiday in UK. The public transport, if they do run at all on that day, might not run as regularly & frequently as on normal days.
As for the cheapest way from Liverpool to Luton, my best guess would be by a coach. That's what I did for getting to London from Liverpool, after discovering that the trains cost much more and their time schedules didn't facilitate my itinerary.
I don't know how much of research you've done regarding looking into all these issues. You might want to try the website below. I found it very useful. You can even write to them regarding your enquiries.

Easyjet check in opens 2 hours before & closes 30 minutes before the flight. I can't it imagine the flight will be very busy that day so queue shouldn't be excessively long.
Actually there are 3 Paris airports - Charles de Gaulle, Orly & Beauvais - and budget airlines often fly to Beauvais. But I checked the Easyjet site (www.easyjet.co.uk) & that flight is to Paris Charles to Gaulle : I would expect that's where your flight to Singapore goes from, as it is generally the airport for international flights. (Which airline is that flight with ?)
I'm not an expert on Liverpool but I'd doubt that a taxi from Anfield to the airport would take more than half an hour on Boxing Day, when there'll be no traffic, but allow an hour to be on the safe side. So if you leave the ground at 5pm & get to the airport by 6pm you should be fine. I would advise booking a taxi in advance to be waiting outside the stadium, though, as not many taxi drivers will be working that day. Make sure you agree which gate you will meet at. There willprobably be a premium charge since it is Boxing Day - maybe an extra £10, or double the usual fare. I'd guess it will be c.£20-30.
Don't think of Luton, I doubt you'd be able to get there in time (no trains on Boxing Day).

I have not been to Anfield, so do not know how difficult the traffic is likely to be, but 30-40 thousand people alll exiting the ground at 5pm is going to make it difficult to a) find the taxi, and b) the taxi to make the airport quickly.

Hi Bell
I believe your trip is somewhere 6 years back.
I'm a Singaporean and also interested in travelling to Liverpool to watch the home game there.
Could you share with me your experience or itenary during your stay in Liverpool?
Did you engage and travel agents?
How about game tickets?
Did you get it online?
Sorry for my many questions!
Hope to hear from you soon

Eric - welcome to the forum. Clicking "Bell"'s screen-name shows he hasn't posted since Sept 05, so they're not much chance he'll read your message. For reference, it's much better to start your own new topic (with a title that clearly identifies your question). There are several people around here with knowledge of UK football - I'm not one of them though.

As you mention, I could'nt find much information from my local forum.
Fodor seems to be a very nice and convenient forum for asians who want to travel to the west.
I will do as what you advise.
