Everyone has their favorites. You couldn't pay me enough to stay near the Champs Elysées, but I'm not 17 and have spent a lifetime visiting Paris, so it's not new to me. My own favorites are Ménilmontant and the Bastille.
But stop sweating the small stuff and just book something - it's getting late!

>>Champ Elysées (6th Arrondissement) . . . The Champ Elysées is not in or near the 6th.
IMO the 4th or 5th would be better neighborhoods for a young visitor. But as long as you are somewhere basically central you'd be OK.

What is the legal drinking in Paris/France? What is the drinking age in Germany? I wanted to have beer/wine with my dad when we ate at resataurants. I read online that France raised the drinking age in 2009. I dont know if this is true, or if Germany did the same. Please inform me because I will be really sad if I can’t go to the Hafbrauhous.

In Germany you may drink beer and wine, that are considered to be 'soft' alcoholic drinks, from the age of 16. When you are accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian you may even do so when younger. 'Hard' alcoholic drinks like brandy etc. and so called alcopops are allowed from the age of 18. This law is dealt with much less strictly than similar laws in the US.
In Bavaria, which München (Munich) is the capital of, beer is considered as 'liquid food'.

you want a thurough description? Okay.
Landing in the CDG airport was an awakening from a long-overdue dream. Stepping off the plane, looking at the “Sortie” signs and realizing that i finally have made it, that i have finally been to where my heart desires, felt unbelievable. From the very start, I have met the most wonderful and helpful people, from uber drivers reccommending local eateries to local french citizens with happy expressions and gracious attitudes. Smelling fresh baked bread as I walk down Rue de Cambronne towards my hotel made me
realize why this place is world famous. Seeing the eiffel tower in the pictures is great and all, but seeing it in person is completely different. It is like describing to someone how sweet sugar is vs having them try it. Sitting down with baguettes full of salami and cheese and wine while staring up at the eiffel tower “towering” over me was something no words can do justice. (Pun intended). Another amazing experience was sitting outdoors in a cafe, overlooking the Arc de Triomphe having coffee and pastries, then steak and wine. Nothing can top the relaxation, and the feeling of happiness that washed over me at that point. The availablility and closing hours of shops and supermarkets was a bit odd to me becuase coming from america, where we have 24/7 walmarts the size of football fields, it confused me when trying explore them. Champs-Elysées was also worth every mile that we walked, the lights, colors, and overall fancy aspect of it all really spells out Paris. And of course Notre Dame, The Louvre, Jardin de Luxembourg were all just mind blowing and beautiful, what i was most excited to see what the light show waiting for me at 10 pm. My oh my was i not prepared for the utter beauty that was waiting for me. Seeing the eiffel tower explode into sparkles before my eyes almost made me cry, almost. Seeing that I was not that interested in paris and only wanted to go there to see the eiffel tower, now makes me curse how ignorant I was due to something that made me feel open and warm. The entire auora and vibe of paris is a positive and cozy one, it is no wonder that this is the most famous place in the world.
Now on to Germany, the guts of my trip.
For three years I have been wanting to go to Germany over any other place in the world. I did not know why exactly my heart longed for this nation, I just knew it needed to be there. My first german city was Wiesbaden. My dad’s cousin was so nice to show us the grand church, the Rhine river, and other natural beauties. He took us through this small street filled with restaurants and bakeries. Lucky for me the long train ride from paris made me hungry. We had dinner at this german restaurant and the server was more than exceptional. She looked at me and the first thing she said was “this kid needs a beer”. Right then and there I knew that I was going to have the time of my life here. I ordered Jagerschnitzel, and this potato ball thing with extra gravy. Let’s just say there was no corner of the plate that was not licked clean. Next stop was Schwabisch hall. Oh and by the way the train rides were beautiful were luscious greenery and mountains surrounding me. Schwabisch hall was more of an emotional journey for my dad. After not seeing his friends or that wonderful little town for over 30 years, he was overcome with joy when his friends gathered to pick us up from the train station and take us around for a nostalgic trip. When they showed me the bars they drank in,stores they shopped at, and the apartment they lived in, it showed me how much fun my dad had when he was my age. I was also lucky enough to go hiking through a thick pine forest overlooking a lake and seeing all types of flora and fauna native to the land like bright orange slugs. My dad had not been to any big cities like Munich and had the notion that almost all of germany was a big grassy park with pockets of small towns. While we did see a lot of that, we were not prepared for what Munich had in store for us. Munich was the most fun, welcoming, and beautiful town I have seen (sorry Paris). The people in traditional lederhosen, schweinshaxe, Liters and Liters of Beer, Turkish influence, the englischer garten, churches on every street corner, all combined into a living and breathing city that exhibits compassion for the old world while welcoming the new. Every night I think about my dad and I riding bikes in the Englischer garten, having doner kebab, meters of sausages, weisswurst, accidentally arriving in a nude area of the park, seeing the jaw-dropping architecture of the churches makes me want to move there. I am actually considering studying at Ludwig-Maximilians-University. We were lucky enough to be there during the world cup so we watched the first game featuring Germany in a hookah bar, while they did lose against mexico, the Germans did not fail to show their pride and love for their team which made me so happy. The farmers market every morning was a delight as well. We would buy fruits, cheeses, and various meaty goods and sit in the Marienplatz and enjoy our life while watching others enjoy theirs. Germany was not just any other travel destination to me, it was a second home in my heart. After hearing all the rumors about “racist germans, bad food, and boring places”, disproving this first hand made me realize that i need to experience everything for myself before listening to others. The people were nothing short of welcoming and helpful even if they could not speak english very well. The food was and still makes me drool thinking about it. The scenery. My god the scenery makes me sit back and appreciate man’s devotion to beauty and how nature has consumed this great nation into a beautiful and refreshing mass. Paris was amazing it really was. But Germany, Deutschland, is something that will stay in my heart forever. I hope this was a good enough trip report and i will make sure to post some more pictures tomorrow or so. Thank you all so much for the wonderful advice and tips. You people show how much we like to help others.
