And by following BigRuss' suggestion, you will save a good bit of money...
Budapest, Zagreb, and if you work at it Prague are all quite cheap comparitively. And while Zagreb doesn't have the greatest train connections, pretty easy to go from there to Budapest.
If I were a 20 year old, I would spend 2 days in Bratislava and day trip Vienna. (seriously, I would!).

Heavens or heavens why - please explain? Is Bratislava Amsterdamned on the Danube - AmsterDanubed if you will?
Been to Bratislava and loved it but seems like a place that would bore most 20 year olds not knowing anyone to death!

Well... My kids have all now passed thru their 20s... Each went to Vienna during our travels... No fans. And I do not blame them. Not so much there for a 20 year old.
We travel a lot thru Central Europe when friends visit us in Budapest. We always do a long weekend in brat and day trip Vienna. It is a town I know pretty well. We have friends coming this summer. We have mutual friends who have already done the trip. Their first words to us were "I hope you can free up to take us to Bratislava"
We will ride bikes to a ww 1 cemetery, the bunkers, the relocated border crossing, hike to Devin and the castle, hike to hainberg castle, take the water cure at bad Deutsch altenburg, ride a boat to the modern art museum and kayak training grounds just down river... Most days a festival, great beer, fantastic hidden restaurants.
You can hike to Slovan monument, walk horskey park, have a beer at Funus, visit one of two opera houses, hear the symphony at the Reduta (spectacular) , hear the Slovak radio symphony....
Sure, I recommend this no problem.... Especially for a 20 year old
