hi.. as in my previous post many are suggesting to hange itinerary,
so this is my planned itinerary.. what to change / cut ?

fly in to france

day 1 : reach at night in CDG
day 2 : just going around main sight in paris
day 3 : morning train to amsterdam
day 4 : just going around amsterdam
day 5 : daytrip to saans and volendam
day 6 : afternoon flight to munich then train to salzburg
day 7 : afternoon tour to berchtesgaden
day 8 : daytrip to hallstatt
day 9 : afternoon train to luzern
day 10 : going to mt titlis
day 11 : going to mt rigi
day 12 : morning to zurich, flight back at evening

what to cut or change in this itin ?

You have WAY too many stops for your time. Day 2, "just going around main sight in Paris". I don't know what you consider to be the main sights, but it would take me at least a week to see the "main sights" in Paris! Pause and consider what are the things most important to you to see? With 23 days, I'd suggest not more than 4 locations - three would be better.

main sight for me is just eiffel (not going up), arc de triumph and champ elysees, notre dame and sacre cour basilica.

believe they are possible for one day right ?

Yes, you should be able to see those in one day/night.

Hi, Don't forget jet lag depending on where you are flying from. The first day I am operating on about 20 %, but then I am older. I'd skip Titlis and Rigi, been there, done that, go to Murren or WEngen area for real mountains and gorgeous views and lovely villages, in my opinion. Only about 3 hrs from Wengen to Zurich, train is right in village. only one day in Amsterdam will be very frustrating as sooo much to see. Sue

You apparently are very interested in trains and buses. If not and you actually want to see and so things, this is not a good plan.

That second day in Amsterdam, just spend it on Amsterdam. No need for Volendam or Zaanse Schans, really.

If taking all those trains you may be one of few to benefit from a Eurail (Select) Pass - lots on trains: www.bahn.de/en for schedules; www.seat61.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

Agree kind of rushed but if you would rather spend time outside of Paris, Munich or Amsterdam it's fine.

The question is: WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM THIS TRIP? Right now, it's checking off boxes on a list of destinations and not much else.

You can't see "main sights" in Paris in a day. You'll be traipsing all over the bloody city even just to hit your short list.

Hi If you have only 12 days, I'd do Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich/Wengen. Forget the smaller places. When you are tired, riding all day and night on trains, you see little, only from a moving window. Relax and enjoy these places. It is not fun when wiped out. You won't recall where you have even been. Best to listen to those above. You could do about 3/4 days in each place and then actually see the cities/villages, not just a moving picture. (Do one night Zurich right before you leave, and it is expensive). You can always come back to other places. Sue

so what u say i should remove germany and austria entirely ?

If you have already purchased your flight tickets, then I would omit Germany/Austria as Sue says. If you have not bought your tickets, then you could fly into Paris and out of Munich, skipping Switzerland.

Hallstatt is not as special as seen in some photos on the net.

I would go directly from Hallstatt to Lucerne by using the overnight train (sleeping cars) Vienna - Attnang - Zurich:
Hallstatt dp 18.32 - Attnang dp 23.34 - Lucerne ar 11.25

Night train to Lucerne sound good for saving time but if you had a railpass you could easily backtrack a station or two east from Hallstatt to board that night train at a more reasonable hour than after 11pm.

Overnight trains not for everyone though - especially light sleepers but if OK with a modicum of noise from inside and outside the train they are great time savers.

But if you want to add a day you can take a very scenic route Salzburg-Innsbruck-Zurich via the inland Austria route between Salzburg and Innsbruck and stay in say dreamy Zell-on-See or Kitzbuhel and break up a long train trip and also take in the scenery.

BTW Hallstatt to me fulfilled the pictures I had seen of it.
