It is a very silly answer. I'll give you another few clues:
It is a word, not a place.
I could have substituted "Rome" or "Messina" or "Stresa" or "Salerno" for Melfi.
It is about travel worries.
Use an Italian dictionary if you don't know Italian.
You'll be mad at me when I tell you, so it's better to guess.

This new clue is based on the ANSWER to the first clue posted by cmt on this thread on 7/30 at 9:42 p.m. That clue was: Where the locals may say that Colapesce took his last spin. (7 letters, last letter was "r" The correct answer was given a few minutes after the clue was posted.
So...building on that answer,which you need to find if you don't remember it, the new clue is:
The one across the way was adored by WHOM in a past life? (7 letters, 5th is "c"
