>>train to Paddington and HEX to Heathrow may not be a bad idea. <<

Doable -- but easier actually (though not included on BritRail) would be the Express coach straight from Bath to LHR w/ no change at Paddington.

Just something to consider.

You'll love being in London w/ the decorations out, ice skating rinks, etc. In fact all four cities will be beautiful.

good on you... how wonderful.
I traveled to London on my own a few months ago.
I loved it. I had no problems being on my own. It was so easy to get around.
You will really enjoy yourself.

A night in York, wow that will be a bit of a rush, I might check out the times at the cathedral and the railway museum to make best use of your "day".

How about train to Reading - before Paddington and then Air Bus to HEX - in past has been included in BritRail I believe but in any case an option. No need to go to Paddington.

But both involve a change and schlepping the luggage.

If one is going to take the train and IF it is included on the Pass might as well use Paddington and the HEX.

My suggestion was just an option if one wanted Bath to LHR w/o a transfer.

Most comfy and probably fastest- and yes HEX is included on any BritRail Pass.

That is if you have a day on the pass - otherwise the bus janis mentions may be a good idea and probably not expensive.
