Help me choose a hotel in Rome near Piazza Navona
We will arrive in Rome on May 2nd for 4 nights. We have been before. Last time I stayed on Via Veneto in the Boscolo Palace hotel nice but I did not like location. At the end of that trip we stayed at Hotel Raphael for one night in their standard room. I really liked that area but the room was SO small.
I'v made a reservation at the Residenza Caneli jr suite with balconeyfor 247 euros. Our son stayed there a few years ago and said it was good but he is 35 and I'm 60. There is no elevator which should not be a problem for us.
Hotel Raphael is just so expensive so I don't know if I can justify it as I need to go one up from the standard room or my husband and I will trip over each other.
Any other hotels in this area that you could recommend? Or share your experiences at either of these hotels.
Thank you
DAC

Have you looked at the reviews on www.tripadvisor.com? And/or at www.veneto.com and www.booking.com? All 3 of these show the location of hotels on a map. You'll get a wider point of view in the reviews on these sites.
It's been a few years since we've been in Rome, but we enjoyed our stay at the Albergo Cesari. It's on a pedestrian street between the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain, so central while not quite at the Piazza Navona.
Others have raved about the Hotel Nazionale, also in this general area.

You might consider the Hotel Portoghesi, which is just north of Piazza Navona. I've stayed there three times and would recommend it.

Though the other suggestions are all fine, I wouldn't be quick to change your reservation.
The Residenza Canali is a fine choice (what floor is the Jr. suite on?). It's a great location on a quite narrow street. I've had many friends give it stellar reviews (so do0es Tripadvisor, BTW). We are apartment people, however.
Also, very nearby to it is my favorite restaurant/cafe/wine bar in Rome: http://www.ristorantesangallo.com/
In May, you'll want an outdoor table on the tiny, quaint piazza.
A great place to while away 30 minutes or 3 hours drinking, snacking, dining or all three.
Don't miss it - where ever you end up staying.

We've stayed at the Residenza Canali for our last three or so trips to Rome. We obviously like it, though I will say that we skip the breakfast there, and instead go to a cafe on Piazza Navona to enjoy the wonderful views of the Piazza (and we don't eat big breakfasts).
We stayed in one room on their top floor that might be a junior suite, that had a terrace outside. The room wasn't huge, the terrace was nice, but we ended up spending our "free time" at a cafe (different from the breakfast place) having a glass of wine there and people-watching.
On another trip, when we had our daughter with us, we were in another room that was larger, no terrace, and with a vestibule sort of room that had a separate single bed for her. That might also be their junior suite.
I love the location on a quiet street just off the Piazza Navona.
