Hi,
Mosel is fine. But rather than Mittenwald/ Garmisch I'suggest Castle Neuschwanstein (Disneyland original) and lake constance. Two hours of Munich and incredible sights. If you need assistance just give a shout!

In September the Mosel is freckled with wine festivals - every little town having their own just before harvest or during harvest season - these are really cool fun affairs - but again do not drink and drive - Germany like most European countries is cracking down - roadside checks not uncommon.
Mosel white wines are very popular - lower on alcohol content but sweeter - there is a winery right in Cochem too - Hieronimi, just across the bridge over the Mosel - nice tour and better tasting afterwards!
