You may think that you psted on "the Italy forum" (and in a sense, you would be right, but in a very limted sense) - - but to most of the rest of "us" this is just another post on the Europe forum.
You need to re-post this, and mention Rome in the message header.
Best wishes,
Rex

Hi neva,
You can
(a) drop off your luggage at a Rome hotel, drop off the car in rome or at the airport and take bus, metro or cab back to hotel.
(b) drop car in Orvieto, or other town with rail transportation to Rome and stay the night in Rome.
Your hotel will arrange for a cab to take you to the airport.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn EUR Parc Medici our last night in Italy. They have shuttle service to the airport. It is a nice hotel at a reasonable price.
However, our next visit we will stay in Rome.
