BTW I know that I can pick up the car at MXP but the price is $500.00 more. Just trying to figure out the best way for 4 people to start heading south after overnight flight. We know we can't drive too long because we'll be exhausted. Any ideas. We are on our way to Tuscany.

The AutoEurope website should give you that information.

$500 more to pick up at the airport? That seems impossible.

I thought that too. But to rent for 4 week from MXP is 2300 vs 1800 from downtown Milan or Como or Florence OR

If you need a car for 4 weeks, you shouldn't be renting, you should be leasing.

I'm going to get banned from AutoEurope if I give this tip out one more time I swear, but try using the different international sites for AutoEurope. You get different prices but are still allowed to input your real home country on the reservation form.

But it might just be higher because of airport taxes.

I know about booking autoeurope thru other countrys (just learned so have never done that). And we usualy do a long term Peaugot buy back... but had my heart set on an Alfa. (autodealers daughter I suppose... also we were in a little town in central tuscany during the world cup Italy vs France).

Anyway the Alfa was a great idea but after anolizing everything it will not work.

To begin with we are flying non stop from SLC to CDG, Easyjet from CDG to MXP and arrive at 3pm. Thought about Como, train to Milan to pick up car AND all being said even though it may cost a bit more we're going to get a (not as cool) Peaugot at MXP, load up our luggage (4 peoples) and drive south toward our 4 week rental in Radda.

So my next question. We will be very tired but think we can drive 2 - 2 1/2 south of MXP. Last year we stayed in Pavia (hated it) and then Reggio (loved it). We are quite willing to stay in Reggio again... BUT any other suggestions??

ok, i tried autoeurope, autoeurope italy, and autoeurope UK for a car in italy for a week. (pick up in milan, drop off in rome)

autoeurope UK told me there were no cars available, while the other two had virtually the same prices. Is there another autoeurope i should try, or am i missing something??

thanks so much!

Try Ireland and Canada too. You never know what the squirrels who run their website had for lunch that day.

It is hit and miss. For us using the other sites got us an automatic for $400 vs. $1200.

I don't understand the logic behind it all..
