Heiligenstein Area

My wife and I and our 2 daughters are travelling to Germany in April. We are hoping to stay in the Heiligenstein area as that is where my Ancestors came from. I have been trying to find brochures on that area but with no luck. We will be there for 2 weeks and want to rent a house in the area. We will be renting a car so we can stay anywhere close to there. I would prefer to have Heiligenstein as our home base.
We will be flying from Edmonton, Alberta. Does anyone know of any good flight deals?
Thanks

Do you mean the Heiligenstein in Alsace ( France), near Sélestat?

You might then get more responses if you repost and tag your message France.

It would not surprise me if there were another Heiligenstein in Germany, there are quite a few 'doubles' in naming.

Ahh, I think I have it now. It looks to be part of Romerberg, which seems ot be part of Greater Speyer. Very tiny place.

It may have been a distinct community once, but it looks to be almost absorbed within greater Speyer now. It is on the S-Bahn rail line connecting to Speyer and just 2 stops away - only a couple of kilometres.

I suggest that you research Speyer and the Rheinland-Pfalz region of Germany as your best bet to find information on the area. I doubt if you will find anything specific to Heiligenstadt.

If it is the one near Speyer, contact Speyer tourist office: http://www.speyer.de/de/tourist?switch_language=en

If it's Heiligenstein near Speyer then you can use Frankfurt or Stuttgart as destinations for your flights. It's a rather short drive (1 1/2 -2 hrs) from either airport.
