Not sure I would recommend walking across a bride (runnaway or otherwise!)

Fare from Heathrow will be around £3.80 with a Pay as you Go Osyter (which is what works best for me but YMMV).

The walk from Westminster tube to the County Hall is around five minutes - and, as I mentioned in the earlier post you get a great view of HofP, through there is siding in the west side of the bridge (well there was a few weeks back).

So you will be saving about £20 - not usre how important that is to you, how far you are traveling, whether you sleep on planes etc etc. So only you can make the call as to whether it is worth it.

One final piece of infroamtion, the County Hall is a large hotel and some of the rooms are a long way from the elevator. It is a strange building. It you want to walk along the embankment don't go out the way you came in - use the other exit.

Leave Westminster Tube Station by the Bridge Street exit

The view you get can best be described as iconic

Need new specs - I read that as "ironic" and thought that you were making a political statement!

The walk will take you 10 mins IF you are gaping at everything - Big Ben (yes, I KNOW the difference - but a visitor will call that thing "Big Ben" ), Westminster Abbey, the Eye, the river traffic, etc. But just walking - about 4 or 5 mins tops.

To flanneruk:

Thank you. That clarifies the online fare results. You also explained the note I saw on the website about the free service from terminal 4 to 3.

Thanks again.

Keefmik - no need at all to take cab from Westminster Tube to County Hall - about 75% of the walk is just crossing the Thames - that is how close it is.

Am going there next week and will be taking tube and walking across the bridge - afterall "Earth has not anything to show more fair..."

keefmick - if you don't feel like schlepping luggage across the river, you can ride a bus from Westminster to County Hall.

Exit Westminster Tube station by the west (Parliament Street) exit and board any of these buses at Stop H, right outside the station: 12, 53, 159, 453.
