Heathrow car service - new thread

So the "recent" thread is 2 years old and has a bunch of bickering.

Any recent (past 6 mo) recommendations for a car service from Heathrow into the city? I will not be taking the tube upon arrival. I will pay more for reliability and service although I certainly don't need the top of the line service provider.

>>So the "recent" thread is 2 years old . . .<<

Not quite sure what you mean, there are threads about car services just about weekly.

The recommendations on which ever thread you found would be pretty much the same: justairports, Londontransfers, Blackberry.

Justairports is the most well known and usually the cheapest.

Thanks for the recommendtions. It was the thread from this week. I find searching this site to be impossible, with threads from 5, even 10 years ago that are likely no longer relevant coming to the top of the search list. So I start with recent threads and work my way back for about a year.

Use Uber. Efficient & cost-effective.

From LHR it isn't.

I've been using JustAirports but have got fed up with them - last two pickups I've had to complain as drivers have asked for higher fees than quoted via the confirmation email. First was explained by parking charges - my flight had been early so there was virtually no waiting yet driver was asking for the higher parking fee. The booking office told me to always ask to see the parking ticket for proof. Most recently (pick up Dec 2016), when challenged as to the higher price, driver argued it was his tip! I might try Simply Airports when returning in June.

That seems weird -- I've used justairports at least 20 times -- the last time just 3 weeks ago. And not one driver has ever asked for more ££

I have used Justairports about 12-15 times, last in December and have never been asked for more money.

Same here - good experience with Just Airports. We use Atlas Cars too. They are also very dependable. Haven't used them for LHR pick-up yet, though.

I've obviously had bad luck with drivers. Mind you, I've probably used Just Airports 20+ times in the past 6 years since we moved to London and it's only been the last two times when the drivers have tried for more. Will still probably try another outfit or our local mini cab service.

We have switched to using Addison Lee. Excellent service. Just Airports service has gone down the tubes in my opinion.

jamikins: I've heard good things about Addison Lee but never used them. Are they about the same price as JA?

They are pretty close. You can set up an account with them online and pay by credit card too. Everything is booked online and you get special deals etc. I think they are slightly more expensive but it is worth it for us because their service is fantastic.
