Heathrow airport help needed
I will be arriving at terminal 3 at 7:30am and my friend arriving at Terminal 1 at 7:20 am, same day. I would think my friend will get thru customs faster because of his passport. We would need to meet somewhere? Can someone give me a good place or tell me how hard or long a trek from Term 1 to Term 3. Thank you.

Hi I think there is a coffee shop in arrivals in T3 really near where everyone comes out. I've had a coffee there when waiting for my mum to arrive. I don't know about T1.
T1 and T3 share the same tube stop so I guess there are fairly easy to reach. I would allow 15 mins brisk walking time.
there are terminal maps on heathrow.com but personally I'm not sure how helpful they are.

The site for London Heathrow Terminal 1 maps is
http://www.airwise.com/airports/euro...RT1_maps.html/. It shows that you can arrive at terminal 1 arrivals, and take stairs or escalator (you choose) to the departures area, where there is one major catering area, I should think a cafe. When you arrive at terminal 3 you can go and sit at that catering area. When your friend arrives at terminal 1 he or she should follow the overhead signs and move to terminal 3. Arrival halls at both terminals have information desks, and either of you can ask staff there to ask on a loudspeaker for the other to walk to the right hall, and to meet in the catering area.
I expect you will both want to decide when to eat. If taxis are taking long to report then you might ask airport staff advice, then ask the driver to pick you up at the right coffee bar.

It's about 10 mins to walk from T1 to T3 Arrivals. There are coffee shops at both T3 Arrivals and just outside T1 Customs exit. There's also an extensive seating area that doesn't require buying anything in T3 Arrivals, easily accessible for people coming therough Customs.
All things being equal, your friend should walk from T1 to T3 Arrivals (an almost se[parate building from T3 Departures), and wait in the seating area, which you (the T3 arriver) will find just to your right as you exit Customs.
All things won't of course be equal, and it will take either of you some time to queue at Airport Information to find the status of the other flight (publicly displayed only at the terminal the flight actually arrives at)
That's why you need to meet where there's sommewhere to sit, and you really need a backup plan - preferably mobile phones.
Getting a message to someone in the other terminal is VERY tricky.

Thanks for the replies. I have looked at the map of terminal 3. At the arrival on the ground floor there seems to be a Metro Cafe. I will give my friend that info and hope he makes it. If not I will have my blackberry with me and hopefully he can text me. Thanks.

Just be aware that clearing through T1 may take longer than you/your friend think(s), regardless of nationality. Esp if the plane is parked at the edge of the terminal (could be 10-15 min trek to the immigration hall), and I always have a bad luck waiting for my luggage.
