Have my tickets to The Louis Vuitton Foundation to see the Moro

Pretty excited they extended this show !
who has seen it ?
The Morozov collection is on view at the Louis Vuitton Foundation from September 22, 2021 to April 3, 2022. This exhibition features 200 major French and Russian works of art at the beginning of the 20th century by two Muscovite patrons and collectors, Mikhaïl and Ivan Morozov.

Possibly a little insensitive to visit a Russian collection (even this old) at a time of an evil war.

I appreciate the sentiment about insensitivity, and given the current horror, it is certainly an understandable reaction, but for me, personally, I don’t feel this exhibit has anything to do with the war, or Russia. It is a connection with artists of the past, and artists are always striving for a beauty or truth. Pictures can feed the soul and doing that is a good thing. I am sure that wherever in the world, there are orchestra or piano or violin performances, it is likely that some music by a Russian composer is being performed. Those artists and musicians made wonderful and inspiring contributions to the world. Disconnecting from music or Art serves no good. Disconnect from that and evil really does triumph.

It would be a bit like boycotting Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Chekhov and Tchaikovsky, among others.

I am hoping I will get to Paris the first week of April and also plan to see this exhibit....I don't view attending it as a political activity.

"Possibly a little insensitive" was what I wrote and what I meant. I don't know where to sit on this issue. I know there are some people who are discussing boycotting Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Chekhov and Tchaikovsky for example and some conductors have already lost jobs including Paris/Moscow ones. Certainly during WW2 certain composers were removed from the oeuvre of allied music theatres.

So please don't think I was trying to shame you, we all have to make our own decisions, but it is worth thinking about.

But on the other hand don't fall into Shell's decision to buy Russian oil at a dramatically low price.

An interesting question has been raised. It leads to thoughtfully assessing our words and actions. I already gave my opinion, but want to say that the restraint, respect and civility being shown here is much appreciated because I do believe that all posters here care about the Ukraine people and do not wish to inadvertently offend or harm anyone.

The question was already asked in France if governments could confiscate Russian owned artworks. The answer is no, because there is an international convention preventing this. Obviously the rule was inspired by what happened a bit more than 70 years ago in Europe.
