Has anyone taken the "Third Man" tour?

I love that movie. It's so atmospheric, and I'd like to visit some of the places featured in it. I'm wondering if anyone else has done the tour.

I forgot to say that it's in Vienna.

While answering your other question, I just happened to see this in the topic side nearby. It does not appear in Austria.

I live in Vienna, am a fan of the movie and have taken the tour.
The tour is the only way to see the sewers used in the film, and for this alone is worth it to me.Most all other locations you can visit on your own, with a little effort if you wished. But the film as many others takes great steps to make good scenes but often takes license with the proximity of places and also actually false locations together.Example Cafe Mozart. Use google to find the several good summaries on the locations . You will see good commentary and pictures then and now - most under " the third man " I think.

Even ride the giant ferris wheel if you wish.

You will find the apartment location of Haerry Lime not to be Stiftgasse but very near to the Hofburg on the Platz there . Most walk by never knowing the facade.

The film is still shown weekly in one of the movie theaters on the Ringstrasse near to the Opera - Burgkino- fridays I think.

We took the tour a few years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. The sewers were a highlight. We also got a kick out of the "surprise" ending of the tour. If you haven't seen the film recently, try to do so before you go.

I took the tour 10 years ago and highly recommend it. BTW, only the little boy actor is still alive today. Sadly, Alida Valli passed away on April 22, 2006.

I have a videotape of the film, and I'll be sure to view it again before I go, but maybe I'll also watch it at the Burgkino, also. Not sure if my German is truly up to understanding the film auf Deutsch, but I've seen it a couple of times and would probably understand it even in Swahili.

Te Burgkino screens the original english version.
www.burgkino.at
Note several times during the week .
It is interesting to see the film and also visit some of the locations not far away - the Palais Pallavicini at Josefplatz in the Hofburg complex near to the Spanish Riding school,Molker Bastei,
Am Hof, Minoritenkirche, among others.

I think this website provides excellent info regarding the Vienna locations for the Third Man film:
