Has anyone been to Santorini recently?
I was in Thira in 1995 and found a wonderful little art gallery called Mati. Wanted to buy a sculpture there, but was short of money then. Now I want to contact them and have it shipped to me, but for the life of me, I can't find anything on the gallery on the Internet, so I don't even know if it exists. It was on the road right before the caldera, near the Atlantis hotel. Does anyone know if it is still there?
Thanks for your help.
Pat Ph.
I was just in Santorini last month and although I did not go to the gallery you mention, I picked up a "Santorini Today" magazine which contains an ad for Mati Gallery of Contemporary Art in Fira. Address is Shopping Center Fabrica, the Orthodox Cathedral.

E-mail: [email protected]
Website: http://www.thiraweb.com/mati.htm

Happy shopping!

Pat--

I saw your message about this same question a couple of weeks ago, and I was rooting for you to get your information! I was really pleased to see what Erica posted, so, out of curiousity (since I loved the art of Santorini when I was there), I went to the site. The web site exists, but didn't have the link to Mati. However, there is a site for the magazine she mentions, which is www.santorinitoday.com, and while they also don't have any reference to Mati online, they also have email.

Good luck with your search! I know what it's like to remember a place like that. of course the best solution of all is to get on a plane and go back, right?

Thank you all so much. I'm glad to know the gallery still exists. I'm going to contact them and treat myself to a sculpture.
I couldn't couldn't couldn't go back to Santorini. The island was beautiful, the people were wonderful. The dogs broke my heart. Granted, I am a definite bleeding heart. But I found a wild pup that had been hit by car, nursed it back to health (I was there for 2 weeks), and fed the whole crew of about 10-12 dogs running loose. Fell in love. Then was told that once or twice a year the dogs are poisoned and killed. I understand why, I really do, but it broke my heart. If there was any way to bring Blue, the pup, home with me, I would have. So going back is not an option for me. Although I will go back to Greece again some day.
Thanks to all, again.
PatPh.
