Has anybody actually eaten at Maxim's?
The web site for the legendary Maxim's restaurant is extraordinaire---as lush and spectacular as this Belle Epoque extravaganza must be. The photos of their Belle Epoque Cabaret night are amazing---mini-orchestra, evening gowns, very gala. Perhaps touristy, but it looks like a vision right out of MGM's Gigi. And there is even a 12-room Art Nouveau museum you can visit upstairs. But so many people say the food at Maxim's is "bad." True? Is it very good, or not worth it? Has anyone been? Merci mucho!

People go to Maxim's for the visuals and atmosphere, not for the food—it lost its Michelin stars many years ago. The decor is remarkable and unique. Today it belongs to the Pierre Cardin empire, which has stretched the Maxim's brand to cover all sorts of merchandise. Maxim's is one of the very few places in Paris that still enforces an archaic dress code.
