Harry Potter castle question

Just saw the new Harry Potter and the castle (Hogwarts) is so beautiful. Searching online I was able to find that it was shot at Alnwick Castle in North Umberland. There are a few photos on it's site and it does look like the one in the film. My family disagrees and says only part of exterior is Alnwich, the rest is various other castles spliced together. I'm not talking about interior shots, I know those were filmed in various locations. But the exterior, is it all one castle (Alnwick). In other words, if I were to go there would it look like it does in the film? Anyone know?

You may find that the grounds carry a familiar feel, but your family is right - the exterior of the castle is a digital collage of several castles.

The crew did use several properties as both their inside and outside sets that include Alnwich, buildings at Oxford, and the Gloucester Cathedral were used for inside/outside shots as well.

Alnwick Castle, even for its recent Harry Potter fame, is still a wonderful place to visit for its historical importance.

I did not mean to imply the movies were only shot onsight in those three locations. The locations set list is actually quite extensive & incredibly interesting from an architectural perspective.
