This will be a year of "staycations" for us - mostly day trips and short overnight trips. However, since we live in Switzerland, there are lots of delightful places to explore here and in neighboring France and Germany - Luzern, Bern, Baden-Baden, Gengenbach, Colmar etc are less than two hours away by train. Daytrips/week-end trips already planned include Lugano, Gstaad/Gruyeres, Bernina Express (again), Zermatt, Montreux. Between my vacation time for this year and the 2011 vacation time I didn't use, I have almost 13 weeks of paid leave available for 2012. I won't use it all but I will probably take about six to seven weeks off.

I'm drooling over all your trips. This past year was a "heavy" travel year for us, and we are expecting another grandchild in early June, so right now, all I am sure of is London in October.

We will be spending a little over 2 weeks in Rome and Tuscany in May/June with my parents and our then 19-month old son! He was amazing on our trip to Greece last summer as a 7 month old... we're looking forward to seeing how toddlerhood and travel mix on this trip! (and yes, we have a very flexibile itin )

First BUEN CAMINO! to Viajero and Cruise. Is Linca walking again this year?

We are definitely going to Florida in October for Mom's 90th birthday.

And we may go to a wedding in Poland between an Indian Hindu and Catholic Pole. If we do go we will also visit a nearby town where whence my family came to garner any information we can and also make stops in Berlin and maybe Amsterdam. It is all still up in the air.

End of March: 8 nights in my beloved Roma, with (hopefully) day trips to Orvieto and one of the Castelli Romani towns.

Early August: 2 week Russian River Cruise beginning in Moscow ending in St. Petersburg.

Nothing else planned yet, but maybe squeezing another trip to Italy in the late fall (a girl can hope!)

A month in Paris in the spring (I can't get enough of Paris either!). A short cruise to Bermuda with family this summer. And who knows where we will end up in the fall -- for the first time, we are going to be spontaneous and see what pops up at the last minute!

@LowCountryIslander, I get the whole Roma thing now. It's pretty fabulous! Paris or Rome, does a girl have to pick a favorite - tell me no!

I'm a little spontaneous to plan too far ahead but these are the top pics:

Bahamas for early spring - San Salvador/Rum Cay or Bimini
Greek Islands or Amalfi Coast for early summer - - Greece was everything we had hoped for last year so looking forward to repeating it this year and if not, an Italian getaway

Paris on the books for the fall gtg

Santa Fe, New Mexico is always an in-betweener as our home-away-from-home spot. That is a sure thing!

Gotta love traveling!! I can sleep when I'm dead.
