Hammam in Paris

Hammam in Paris
We will be in need of a hammam and other services whle in Paris. We have been to the Paris Mosque Hammam before and now have read about Les Bains du Marais. We are looking for a "day to recover from jet lag" and the Bains du Marias looks like it might fit the bill. Has anyone been to both and of the two which did you prefer? If someone has been to the Bains du Marias..how was it? We were in Paris last in 1998. We will be staying in the 7th at the front end of our trip so a venture to either the 5th or the 3rd will probably be equally "easy".

I know that i am responding over a year past your travel time, but i don't know if there is anyway to better recover from jetlag than a trip to the Bains du Marais hammam. If you are also staying in the Marais, it is one of the best experiences, to leave the eucalyptus sanctuary that is Les Bains du Marais, your skin feeling polished and silkened by their fragranced oils- and your body purified by steam and massage, to wander slowly through the streets in the evening with the smells of fresh bread and flowers.There is no better recipe for a sound sleep and to awake the next morning renewed.
I have also tried the Paris Mosque Hammam, but find that it lacks soul and authenticity of Les Bains du Marais- and Les Bains du Marais offers the beautiful scents to take home with you!

Hi~an informational post. We did take a hammam with massage at Les Bains du Marais. It ended up being a great deal pricier than the Paris Mosque Hammam and missing some of the "flavor" of the mosque hammam. It is a great way to deal with jet lag however I would probably wait a day or two and make certain I was very much more hydrated before doing this again. I get pretty bad jet lag, had flown business class to CDG from SFO and felt quite dizzy at times.

I was one of the Bains du Marais' first customers over a decade ago! Boy, do I miss them (I live in L.A.)! It's definitely the best hammam in Paris (I'm parisian and have tried almost all of them). Call Eric Benita, the owner/manager, to get mint service, http://www.lesbainsdumarais.com/. The hammam of la Mosquée may have grander architecture, but I've always found the hygiene there dicey, and their "gommage-massage" is pathetic compared to the Bains. If you want to have a scrub/massage @ the Bains ( a must!), ask for Muss or Abdula, they're magical!
