Hallstatt, Zell am See, Kitzbuhel - need hotel recommendations
I would appreciate any recommendations for hotels centrally located that are family-friendly from those of you who may have stayed there. Preferably a large room with 4 beds or 2 connnecting/adjacent rooms. I would like to stay under $200/night (both rooms included). Also, how much time would you allow for each of these smaller towns?

Marta, I was in those quaint towns this past June. I did not stay in any one of those towns, but I stayed in ones real close by. I traveled by car--but I think you could also do it by train or bus.
I stayed in Bad Ischl at the Hotel Sonnhof(fax:06132 23 07 85). This hotel was centrally located and very nice. There are 2 hotels outside of Saalfielden that I could highly suggest.
Urslaerhof and Club Alpina both of which are in Hinterthal--way up in the mountains--scenery is unbelieveable.
Fax for Urslauerhof 06584/820841
Fax for Club Alpina 06584/8181-55. If you want any additional information-just e-mail me. Have a great trip.

Rosemary

I did not stay in hotels in Hallstatt and Zell Am See. The one in Kitzbuehl was too far on the edge of town and would not recommend it for that reason. One day for each should be enough. Our favorite by far was Hallstatt, then Kitzbuehl and then Zell Am See. We found Badgastein to be more interesting to explore than Zell Am See. Royce

Roy is right. Zell am See is oversold. But the St. Georg hotel there, beside a gurgling mountain stream is a gem.
Krimml (about 40 minutes away)from there and is home to the highest waterfalls in EU. A sight worth seeing - in winter, the falls turn into a columns of ice. Two hotels there. Stay with Herr Steeger
at the Post: Frau Steeger is an incredible cook. He has a website.
Yes, Rosemary, Bad Ischll is unbelievable, and Hallstatt 20-25 km up the road is ...Magic
Marta: how much time in this area? As much as you have, or can afford.
Peace
Kris
