Sithonia is supposed to be less touristy than Kassandra, I have only been to Sithonia so cannot comment.
It was pretty touristy, alot come from the Balkans etc who drive over. There are some wonderful beaches in the area, if you can get to them & find parking. Vourvourou Beach is one of the most beautiful in the area, We stayed in really nice town called Neos Marmaris, a pleasant town and a great base for going to various beaches and being able to walk to restaurants in the evening. There isn't much on Sithonia, no historical sights, so it is mainly for the beach that someone would visit. I think it pays to drive down the peninsula a bit more and get away from the built up areas around Nikiti.

My husband is not liking the idea of Sithonia. I thinks there isn’t a lot going on there. His idea of a beach vacation is to be able to go out of hotel and get coffee, walk around a town and walk to the beach. I don’t see any place on Sithonia that might meet his wishes and am now looking at some places in Kassandra. I’m afraid that one of us will be unhappy.

Hubby didn't like the look of Neos Marmaras then? It does have its own beaches and a town in walking distance. From what I saw of Sithonia, it was the best place to be in the area, restaurants around a small harbour, a great bakery run by an Italian, There isn't alot going on in Halkidiki anyway, it's all sun, sea and eating. We struggled with choosing a place in Halkidiki, some places have beautiful beaches but are far from anything.

Thanks Balthy, but if he doesn’t want to stay in Nikiti, I don’t think he would like someplace smaller. I’m still looking. He’s heard of Kassandra so I think that’s where he wants to go. He will check with some family over there.
