Guide/driver for Valencia
There are four of us arriving May 14th on Silversea cruise. We would like to hire a driver for approximately 4 hours +. Departing ship about 10AM. Not earlier - after all we are on vacation!
We would like to design our own itinerary so looking for flexibility in a driver/guide.
Fodorites have never let us down. Would so appreciate your suggestions and advice on this matter.
Cheers to you all. Happy Trails! .

Where do you want to go that you need a car and driver? I can see having one to go to the rice fields outside the city, maybe to have a paella lunch, but otherwise I would walk and take taxis. It seems useless to have a car for the museums, the market, the city center.
Valencia is gorgeous! Here is a list of private guides; maybe our resident expert, Lincasanova, will join in here; she was wonderful to me when I visited her city.

Thank you eksrunchy for your insight into how to assign our time spent in Valencia. My husband has difficult feet so hoping somone can drop us off close-ish to where we want to walk around. Then if he is in pain he can return to the car to sit comfortably. Hence need for driver and we realise how silly this might seem.
Meantime will work on your sugesstions and hope that others will chip in as you suggest. Many thanks as always for your thoughts and time

Oh, that makes sense then. The only museum I visited was the ceramics museum, but there is also the science and industry area (sorry I'm not giving the correct names) that is away from the center. I did not go there. I am going to link my report so you get an idea of what we did a few years ago; you don't have all that much time so maybe visit the market (if you like markets, this is one of the best in Spain and, I imagine, in all of Europe!), have some fresh orange juice from the stalls outside, walk as much as you can center city, and have a paella lunch in the city or at the beach.
¡QUE VIVA VALENCIA! Wandering and Eating amidst the Orange Blossoms
I will be interested in how you like the cruise. I've only been on one, in Hawaii, years ago, but I've looked at the Silversea brochures; partner would love to go so one of these days.....
