Group Day tours from Naples via bus
Hi,
I will be in Naples over Thanksgiving for a few days. I will be staying with friends; however, I would like to avoid putting them to any trouble for sightseeing, etc. I have been to Naples several times (used to live there as a child); however, I would like to take my daughter and niece to Pompeii and the Amalfi coast. There are numerous tour companies that run this tour from Rome. Is anyone familiar with a tour company that does this or similar tours from Naples year-round? I am well aware that I could do some of this on my own via train; however, I would prefer the convenience of a tour.
Thanks in advance,
Chels

SeaUrchin,
Perhaps I needed to state that I have already contacted my friends, and they are not aware of a company that runs this type of tour during off-season. Hence my choice of posting on Fodors. But, thank you for the suggestion of asking my friends first - just in case I didn't think of doing that.
Best,
Chels

There are tours. See for instance:

I've looked at this website before but have no personal knowledge or experience with the tours.

I believe if it is not too expensive for you Context Naples can give you a tour customized to your interests. They are the same company that offers tours of Rome and Paris. It appears they only offer private tours and not their small group tours in Naples. Deborah

Chels - Pompeii is very easy and cheap by train or bus from Naples. There are tours there in high season from Naples, but I don't think so in winter - unless you don't mind the expense of a private tour.
There are bus tours to the Amalfi coast from Sorrento - not sure if these still run in low season though.
Really your best option might be to catch the train to Sorrento or Salerno and take a bus or ferry if running from there along the Amalfi coast. (You can get a day-pass for buses which is very cheap ...)
Hope this helps ...
