Which of the grottos are the best to see, how long do you stay in them?<BR>Emerald (Smeraldo) Grotto near Almafi or Blue Grotto in Capri?

If you are doing the &quot;amalfi coast&quot; in a day and are somewhat pressed for time, do not waste it, skip the Emerald Grotto. I wished we had if I had really known.

I lived nearby in Naples for 3 years, and we went to Amalfi regularly. Never heard much about the emerald grotto though...I vote for Blue Grotto on Capri. The &quot;gondolier&quot; takes you in for about 5-10 minutes. I heard it's wonderful in summer to go stay on Capri, and wait til the boats are done with tours, and swim in there before sunset. Keep your head down at the entrance! BTW -it's also fun to ride the ski-lift to the top of the isle.<BR>

The Blue Grotto on Capri is the better of the two and relies on sunlight to be at its best. The Grotta dello Smeraldo (Emerald Grotto)is near Conca dei Marini
