Thanks goodness that our airports now have new thoroughly-trained and well-compensated baggage screeners, beefed-up tarmac access security, and air marshalls on every flight, there is no chance anything like this could ever happen again on a U.S. airplane.

Well said, Elvira & Rosenatti.
Violent crime is hardly a new phenomenom in the United States. In fact, one could argue that violent criminals are "terrorists", only on a smaller scale...but no less terrifying if you happen to be one of their victims.

What I question is the need to post breaking news on this board. We all probably have radios and TVs in addition to a PC. Starting a "newsflash blurb" thread on this board only entices posters to report the sketchiest of details (often unfounded rumors) and serves no real purpose. Take this one for instance -- bus crash in Kentucky...10 dead -- two wrong "facts" in one sentence. If there is a need for further discussion on an incident after reliable sources (i.e. legit news agencies, not total strangers that post on a website) have gathered pertinent facts, then that is totally okay. Why would anyone want to submit to sensationalism and hysteria, especially now?
