Does anyone know when the ferry schedule is available for late May 2008. Am I safe booking accommodation in Mykonos then Naxos & Santorini without the ferry booking between the Islands? We are flying into Mykonos & out of Santorini & I have booked those flights.

Greek ferries are run by several companies. Some publish schedules months in advance and others don't. May is low season, apart from some public holiday weekends, so there is no need to book accommodation, or ferry tickets, in advance.

The 2008 schedules won't be available until sometime in March or April, but I can tell you that you will have no problems getting from Mykonos to Naxos and from Naxos to Santorini. There's no reason to book ahead for May as these ferries won't be at all crowded then. If you're worried about making sure you have tickets in hand, you can relax. You will also have two different route options for getting to Naxos. One is direct the other is through Paros, which makes the likelihood of not being able to get there when you want even less likely since you'll have more schedules to choose from. Once you're on Mykonos just go into any travel agency that sells ferry tickets and purchase them then and there. I promise.

Usually the ferry schedules become available February-March (even April!!!) of 2008 so be patient!
But as GeoggHamer mentioned, you'll definitely won't have any problems with accomodation that period.. most hotels are almost empty then!
Of course if you want a specific hotel then you can book it and explain to them that due to ferries you may make a small change later on.
Also Mykonos, naxos & santorini have very good connections and i'm sure that you 'll find a ferry the day that you want.
(consider even the airplane. Aegean airlines has prices from 19€ if you book early! Sometimes it's even cheaper than a ferry ticket)

Christine we were surprised at the cost of the flight from Santorini to Athens versus the ferry so that is one of the reasons that we booked it the other is it will allow us more time to see both Santorini & Athens.
