Greece on our Own
My husband and I are planning a trip to Greece in late Feb. or early March. We do not enjoy regimented tours, so are thinking on doing our own itinerary. We would be in Greece about 7 - 9 days. Would like to see some of the islands. Any suggestions? Also, what would the weather be like that time of year.

Greece is easy to do on your own. Athens is worth a day or two at most (acropolis, archaeology museum, plaka) then head for the islands. Ferries are frequent BUT are on a more limited schedule in the winter. You're probably better off with the larger, more active islands (Mykonos vs Naxos) since the smaller islands close up a lot of their summer resort spots.
There are a couple of really good guide books on the islands; for ferry info, check this website: http://www.greekislands.gr/
Not a clue about the weather...we were there in mid-October, 70 degrees during the day, 60s at night..

Vicki, Big difference in 7 or 9 days.
I will assume 8 for this one.
Athens--1 day
Nafplio/Olympia et al--3 days
Fly to Santorini from Athens--2 days
Ferry back to Athens via Mykonos

Not much time. It will be chilly--low of 45 highs of 58--have a ball.
