Greece-9/29/2019 advice needed please

hello we will arrive at ATH Sept 29 at 12:30pm we will have me, my husband and son who is 9, we have traveled quite a bit but this is our first time to Greece. We are looking at Athens, Santorini, and stuck between Naxos and Mykonos for my son he likes riding the leg powered scooters and seeing markets and wants to be on the beach, so we have to mix it up for him to enjoy as well. Which would you choose and how many days would you stay in each place? I was thinking it would be best to fly from Athens to Santorini then depending on what other island between Naxos to Mykonos either a ferry or another short flight? Which between the 2 has the best beaches and most to do? Will have no car but use public transport or walking. Thanks to all in advance. Appreciate any help.

I preferred Naxos to Mykonos, but I'm sure others have different preferences.

If you haven't seen it, you might find some useful information in my trip report:

I agree with Naxos (or Paros) over Mykonos. All the islands will be getting quiet by the end of September, with most children back in school at home. Mykonos and Santorini are less family oriented than Naxos and Paros.

Naxos over Mykonos. Naxos has something for everyone and is far more family friendly than Mykonos.

You picked Santorini & Mykonos, two of the most heavily touristed and expensive of the Greek Islands. Go to Naxos and take a break for a more laid back island than Mykonos.

I don’t think of Santorini as child friendly either.

I would prefer mykonos. Much more expensive than Naxos but if he likes walking at small streets with shops, Mykonos has the best "traditional island town".

Both islands have nice beaches as for the ridding in Mykonos you will find everything. Of course completely different prices
