NAXOS - ST. GEORGE -- Hotel Galini, Hotel GLaros, Hotel St. GEorge, Hotel Asteria, -- none of these have pools but they are right ON the beach. The Pool hotels are back a few 100 yards but why use a pool when the water is glorious as in September. NAXOS in GROTTA area -- Hotel GROTTA . Use bus to get to beaches like Ag. Prokopios. On a bluff to the left of Pier in Naxos town. Great buffet breakfast. I recommend these 2 areas in September, more going on. Other beach villages beginning to close up.. You can always take a bus to those beaches.
BUS system is great in Naxos -- rent a car 1 day to drive all around the island.
PAROS -- The website of Parosshep (michael shepherd) ParosParadise is a great intro & has some housing ideas. NAOUSSA -- Scorpio Studios are nice at moderate rates, surrounded by flowers OUTSIDE PARIKIA on a nice beach, just across the bay from the town, an easy taxi ride -- http://www.studiosannaparos.com/

I was in Santorini in June and I highly recommend to include it in your trip, Santorini is magnificent, a unique island.
We stayed at Fira – we chose it because it is central and offers easy transportation, restaurants, nightlife, everything! We stayed at Astir of Thiras hotel, which was nice, clean, family run, with nice view to the caldera, had moderate price and was 5min from the central square. If you are looking for something like that, you can check its location or other hotels' locations at http://www.santorini-hotels.info/san...i-fira-map.htm

I just came back from there. It was wonderful. Trip report and photos will take a bit of time to get done but here are the hotel reviews I just finished:
Santorini – San Georgio Villas , www.sangiorgiovilla.gr/ E-mail: [email protected] 50€. Wonderful place to stay in Fira. Clean, nice size rooms with AC, fridge, TV, free wi-fi, hairdryer. George arranges pick up and drop off from airport or ferry port (extremely useful since finding it for the first time would be challenging). It’s on the other side of the main road from the caldera and the labyrinth shopping streets but still only a five-ten minute walk to the caldera, the bus station, etc. George is extremely helpful and gives loads of accurate info on where to go and what to do.
Naxos – Anixis Hotel, www.hotel-anixis.gr [email protected] 45€ (breakfast available for 5€ per person). Very nice hotel in a great location ONCE YOU FIND IT. Which is incredibly difficult to do. It is deep in the labyrinth of stepped tiny arcaded corridors that are called “streets” in Naxos. Delightful to wander around, but not with your bags (and we only had one 18 inch each) looking for a hotel. They need to either give guests good directions or mark it better. Once there the rooms are spotless, spacious and have TV, AC, Fridge, and your own terrace. The rooftop terrace (where breakfast is served) is available all day and has great views of the cathedral and whole town including the portara. They do have free wi-fi too but the signal strength was usually so low that it didn’t work. To find the Anixis – from the promenade along the harbor enter the old town where it says “old market” and then look for signs for Hotel Panorama which is very well marked. Just keep following those signs till you are in front of the Hotel Panorama, then look past it one street to see the sign for the Anixis. Alternately take the road (car road, tiny sidewalk) from in front of the ferry dock a couple of blocks till you see the grocery store/fruit market, and bear right which brings you to the cathedral in another half block. From in front of the cathedral enter the old town, go up the steps to the next tiny square where you have to turn right or left – turn right, immediately left, next left, next right and it’s just ahead. Each of these turns is about a half minute walk.
Paros – Hotel Dina –[email protected] www.hoteldina.com 50€. AC, TV, fridge, hairdryer. Our favorite place of the three we stayed in the Greek Islands, and we actually loved all three. In the old town on the “busy” market street (mostly tourist shops) but it’s still very quiet especially if you close the doors and put on the AC. In the morning with the door open listening to the birds chirping it’s heaven. There is a tiny chapel so close you can almost touch it. Our room is the one with the balcony overlooking the chapel. The whole place is spotless, probably the cleanest hotel I’ve every stayed in. Nice little touches like little lanterns lit at night in the common areas. There’s a large common terrace with chairs if you don’t get the room with the balcony. Dina is wonderful and makes you feel very much a welcomed guest. The hotel is well signposted and marked on several maps so easy to find. Just walk south from the ferry along the waterfront past all the tavernas till you get to a little square and can see “Nick’s Hamburgers”. Turn in there and then turn left and follow that “street” for about a block till the orcher/yellow colored building in front of you, turn right and it’s another half block.
Athens - Hotel Metropolis, www.hotelmetropolis.gr [email protected] 46 Mitropoleos St. 75€ (breakfast available for 5€ per person extra, not worth it). Best thing about this hotel is it’s location, halfway between Syntagma and Monastiraki Squares, about 5 min walk to either, and 5 min to the main Plaka shopping street. Easy to find and to access from either metro station or the airport bus stop. Right across the street from the Mitropoli (cathedral). The second best thing about this hotel is the view – of the acropolis (and the dome of the Mitropoli). I think only the first two rooms on each floor (there are five floors) have the view, and probably only the top two or three floors, but there is a roof top terrace anyone can use with the view. The hotel did have free wi-fi (which unlike several hotels that had free wi-fi, this hotel’s worked), AC, lift. But it was definitely a tad run down. Not so much dirty as it’s seen better days. The floor tiles were cracked, bedspread dingy, etc. But the room was actually a very good size, plenty of space for our stuff, and we had a small balcony. For the price, and given the location, view and wi-fi, we were content.

We are almost finished booking with a greek travel agent.
We are thinking about staying at the Birikos Apartments in Naxos, Hotel Manos in Paros,Acropolis View Hotel in Athens and Nissos Thira Hotel in Fira. Are these choices okay?? Or should we stay away from any of them?

Only one I've ever heard of is Acropolis View Hotel ... I've been to Naxos 9 times and have never heard of Birikos -- are you sure it isn't run by the travel agent's uncle??? Ditto for Hotel Manos.
PS: Did you google "trip Advisor" for any of these? I would NEVER say OK without seeing some TA reviews .. Also, what prices were you quoted for these?
PPS: What travel agency?

Actually Jan I know Birikos. We stayed there on our first trip to Naxos in 1996. It was new then and was in the middle of a farmers field just before you enter the town of Aggia Procopious. It is right on the main road but set well back. It has subsequently added a pool. It was a very nice studio hotel with kitchen. It was perhaps a 10 minute walk to the beach because one had to essentially walk through the town to get there.
It is quiet at night for sleeping.
We enjoyed our stay there but one night we were swarmed by mosquitoes. We made the mistake of putting on the light and leaving the windows open when we returned from dinner. They love the light. Once we learned to keep the windows shut and use the air conditioner that was not a problem again.
All said and done we prefer St George Beach area for its proximity to Naxos Town and all it has to offer. But if a beach holiday is what you want this is a good choice.

Flying from Santorini back to Athens is going to cost more than taking a ferry, but I strongly recommend that you fly back, especially if you're tight on time. An 8+ hours ride on a ferry from Santorini to Athens is an awfully long time to spend on a boat. I took the ferry back and had hoped to have one more chance to visit the Acropolis since it was to be my last night in Athens, but it was almost dark by the time the ferry arrived in Athens.

Hi jan...the travel agency is Aegean Thesaurus Travel. I hope they are legit. They were recommended on Matt Barretts site
The trip advisor reports for the hotels looked pretty good.
The Birikos has added a newer building and we were hoping to spend time at the beach in Naxos. Rated #7
of 18 hotels in Agios Prokopios
Hotel Manos was rated # 4 of 26 in Naoussa.
