Great London Bars with a view

Hello,

I'm a single traveler heading to London in November. I've been many times but really wanted to have a nice drink or two at some London Bars with a view. I looked into Gong, but the 30 quid per head seems to steep for my blood. I'd prefer a place where I could just walk up and have a drink. Aqua Shard seems to get poor reviews. ME London and Galvin at Windows seem like possibilities, although I'm not sure if there's a minimum charge. Maybe the new Sea Containers bar, Rumpus Room? I'm okay with spending something like 15 quid per cocktail, but the 30 minimum at Gong seems too steep for me. However, maybe it's such a unique experience that I should bite the bullet and do it. Oblix somehow doesn't appeal either.

Thanks!

This article is a little dated but it has some suggestions:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/de...ftop-bars.html

Of the bars listed I've been to the Coq d'Argent, very pretty with great views, okay-ish restaurant. It unfortunately has been the site of at least two suicides, I hope they've made it more difficult to jump.

You can see into Buckingham Palace gardens from the bar at the top of the Hilton Hyde Park but the only time I was up there the windows were so dirty you couldn't see anything. Apparently Her Madge was very annoyed when it was first built but now that the gardens are open to help pay the rent, I would guess she's no longer bothered.

I like the bar at the County Hall Marriott. Great view of Parliament and Big Ben. Also, good bar food menu.

Actually the bar in Aqua is great, the restaurant is so so however. The Radio bar at Me is fabulous but at the weekend could be very difficult to get in to, the view is to die for!

We went to Madison this spring on Jamikins recommendation; yes, great view, fun to visit. What's the view like from the Terrace Bar at National Theatre?

Last year I also went to the bar at the Doubletree Tower of London, which was really nice.

I was gong to recommend all three jamikins mentions. I've been to all more than once. and each hs amazing views.

At Madison there is an inside cocktail bar, a terrific outdoor lounge, and a huge observation deck. All three are w/ walking distance of each other so a view bar hop is doable.

Try the bar in the Tower Hotel by the bridge. When it's dark and the bridge is lit up, it's a fantastic view.

The website doesn't show the view but All Bar One at Butlers wharf East of tower bridge has a fabulous view of Tower Bridge

Actually there are several restaurants and bars along butlers wharf.

This bar is literally built into the base of Tower Bridge on the south side. Go before 5:00pm to get a seat at the large windows looking out over the river and bridge. The photos on the website do not do the view justice!

Or Duck and Waffle in the same building...think they may also have a bar, they are open 24/7. we didn't think the food was great though if you decide to eat there. Views are amazing.

Thanks for these great tips. I think I will save some of the City bars for when I'm back in July and staying at the Andaz. I'm definitely doing Marriott County Hall, Bar at Tate Modern, Oxo for Express Lunch and Radio Rooftop. Maybe one other. What's the Edition Bar like?
