If you're not booking too far in advance try www.uk.laterooms.com. A tip though - if you find something that sounds like a bargain, see if the hotel has its own website - you may get an even better deal direct - I have!

For our trip to London this past May, I started looking at hotels around the beginning of February. Found a great deal for 99 pounds including full English Breafkast and VAT at the 4* Rubens Hotel at www.londontown.com. They also have their own website with "last minute" specials (http://www.rubenshotel.com/index_flash.htm).

Try the Thistle hotel chain www.thistlehotels.com. I've also heard good things about londontown.com, but I have never used it. I know that you can get good hotel and airfare combos through many of the airlines, which is how we booked our next trip to London (end of February).

It depends on the class of property you're looking at.

Expedia, travelocity, and orbitz actually have much better offers that you'd expect. Of the three, I find that expedia has better rates than the others.

Other websites are 1)londontown.com (excellent)
2) londonby.com (the hotels on this site will actually email you a quote, and you may be able to negotiate a little--plus the pictures of hotels on this website are absolutely second to none (and trust me--I NEED to see MANY pictures before I throw down a chunk of change on a hotel!!)
3) smoothhound.com (great deals, lots of hotels)
4)travelnow.com (this is actually the website that most others feed into - I think travelocity, hotels, hoteldiscount, etc. have very similar rates)
These 7 websites should get you most every rate out there.
One other tip: you can email the specific hotel, explain your situation (ie any special event) and ask for any discounted rates. Believe it or not, this actually works at some places (both upscale and not). You can't lose in trying.

Good Luck!!!
